MAY 12, 7:00 P.M. JOHN NILSEN, PIANIST
Portland Chamber Music is a nonprofit organization bringing together musicians and audiences from all walks of life in quality, welcoming performances and music education that is accessible to all. Improving access to music is an important component in their overall goal of achieving equity in arts and culture. Portland Chamber Music believes all people deserve access to quality musical experiences regardless of who they are, how much money they have or where they live.
Nilsen founded the Magic Wing recording label in 1987. The label has a catalog of nineteen successful titles, each with international distribution. Before founding Magic Wing, John recorded three successful solo piano records on LA’s, Eagle Records from 1983-1985. He has released sixteen on his own Magic Wing label with fifteen other CDs licensed in countries including Germany, Great Britain, The Philippines, Canada, Taiwan and Singapore bringing reported total record sales to well over one million copies sold. John has given back to his community by teaching songwriting residencies and speaking to students in schools throughout the country, but also including every school in the West Linn/Wilsonville School District over the past twenty years.
We believe in the magic of music and the arts to inspire, connect, educate, and elevate all people. MAGIC in the Grove is a series dedicated to building community through artistic performance and personal interaction. Our venue at Forest Grove United Methodist Church is well suited to intimate, interactive experiences with artists and the arts. Come on out to Forest Grove for a MAGICAL experience.
